Running for a cure

So - last year I participated in the annual AIDS Walk / Run event. At my highest weight I walked with a friend and raised about 500.00 for the DC Whitman Walker Clinic.

This year, I am once again participating in the event. However, I'm signed up to run the 5k Race. The event is in October and I've set a training schedule with my trainer on how to start preparing for this run. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be able to do something like this.

I've started jogging in the gym doing a walk 2.5 minutes, jog for 45 seconds interval training. I'm really excited for this and I know I'll be able to do it. The First Post

Welcome!

Just over 5 months ago, I set out on a journey to lose weight and improve my life. I woke up one day and said enough is enough and decided to take control of myself. Since that first weight watchers meeting in October I've lost about 47 pounds and about 8 inches off my waist. But I still have a ways to go.

Following in the footsteps of some friends I've made since I've started journey (Amelia and Gwen) - I've decided to create a blog and share my story as I progress to the new healthier me.
